EmpowerYouth™ Research Study Essential Life Skills Programme
Abstract:
The study explores the EmpowerYouth™ Essential Life Skills Programme, developed by Anne Marie McIlwraith, as a CPD-accredited initiative designed to equip young people in Ireland and the UK with vital self-care, health, and emotional resilience skills. The programme covers diverse modules such as haircare, skincare, nailcare, footcare, cancer awareness (male and female), PCOS education, mental health, hygiene, and grooming skills for boys. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research analysed participant feedback, educator evaluations, and impact assessments to evaluate effectiveness. Results showed notable improvements in personal care habits, confidence, and awareness of key health issues among students. The findings highlight the programme’s potential for national implementation, suggesting it could significantly contribute to youth wellbeing and support public health priorities. Overall, the research demonstrates how structured life skills training can empower youth with confidence, resilience, and practical knowledge essential for navigating daily challenges and long-term wellbeing.
